Helena is a hamlet in Črna na Koroškem named after a mining gallery and it developed near the end of the 19th century. The gallery took its name from the the church of St. Helen on the Pikovo hill which was built in 15th century. The life and development in Helena went hand in hand with mine operations. The mine provided for residential buildings for the miners and for the infrastructure. In the past, Helena was a developed settlement that had a school, library, a hall for cultural events, a firehouse and a shop. The mining collection reveals the past life and work of miners, bearing an indelible hallmark left behind by the mining industry in this area.
